Cashping ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service at cashping.app.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: Your name, email address, and phone number when you register.
- Financial data: Read-only transaction data retrieved through Plaid from your connected bank accounts. We never receive or store your bank login credentials.
- Usage data: Log data, IP addresses, and interactions with our service for security and debugging purposes.
- SMS opt-in: Your phone number and consent status for receiving daily SMS spending summaries.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To deliver your daily SMS spending summary and respond to your SMS commands (REPORT, SUMMARY, CATEGORIES, HELP, STOP).
- To sync and analyze your bank transactions to generate spending summaries.
- To authenticate your account and maintain security.
- To send service-related notifications (not marketing).
- To improve and operate the Cashping service.
3. Financial Data and Plaid
Cashping uses Plaid Inc. to connect to your bank accounts. The connection is read-only — we can view your transaction history but cannot initiate transfers, move money, or modify your accounts in any way.
Your bank credentials are entered directly into Plaid's secure interface and are never transmitted to or stored by Cashping. Plaid's privacy policy is available at plaid.com/legal.
4. SMS Communications
By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent checkbox during signup, you consent to receive automated daily SMS messages from Cashping containing your spending summary. Consent to SMS is separate from acceptance of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Message frequency is approximately once per day. Standard message and data rates may apply.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive one confirmation text and no further messages. You may re-subscribe by updating your phone number in your account settings.
Mobile opt-in information and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with:
- Plaid: To facilitate read-only bank connections.
- Twilio: To deliver SMS messages to your phone number.
- OpenAI: Anonymized transaction summaries may be processed to generate AI-powered spending insights.
- Infrastructure providers: Neon (database), Railway (hosting) — for service operation only.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect our rights.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Transaction data synced from Plaid is retained to power your spending history and summaries.
8. Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update inaccurate information in your account settings.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data.
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from SMS messages at any time by replying STOP.
9. Children's Privacy
Cashping is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated effective date.
